Finished Roof

The roof is finished. The metal valleys are reflecting more light then I thought, but I will survive. It is the best way to do the roof!

The insulation is half done. It's already pretty warm inside and the heat isn't even turned on yet.

Heating, just in time!

It's really starting to look like a house inside. Forest Larrabee and his crew installed the 2nd tub today, and the heating system was put in, along with my front door!

Houle's Plumbing in Winslow is doing the heating installation. It looks good. The heater is small, perfect for my small house.

More Framing & Tub installation

Roofing has started, but I only took one picture at the beginning of the process. More to come...

During the heavy rain, we stepped inside to finish the framing and we did some insulating so we could place one of the tubs. The electrical is also 90% done. Cruising right along. Post more later, too beat to do more now!

Porch Roof

Well, it turned out to be a great day and we were able to finish putting in the rest of the windows and covered the porch with advantech. Moving right along...

Windows

It was a very chilly day and our fingers were freezing, but we managed to almost complete the porch framing and get 6 windows in (4 to go). The windows are each sealed with silicone caulk then wrapped nicely with some new vycor bitchathane product, so no ladybugs will get in my house!! Looks like we might have bad weather tomorrow, but we will be back at it on Sunday at least...I hope!

More Details

Another great day. Most of the typar is on and we had one of the subcontractors come back to lay more gravel, and grass seed to define the landscaping a bit. The grass that was seeded just a month ago is almost ready to cut. After all that, I spent the late afternoon picking out my kitchen cabinets and counter top which will look great! One very productive day!

I now have a roof over my head!

The rain slowed us down a bit, but the roof sheathing is now completely done. A couple more days and we will be completely closed in!

My new fear: balancing on ceiling joists 9 feet up! Good thing OSHA didn't pay a visit.

My Dad got us started and Mom and I did a pretty good job constructing the ladders for the rake overhangs. I had no idea what we were doing until we put the first two up. I am really enjoying learning how to build this house. Good thing my Dad thinks of the details.
