Lights

Below is the exterior light design I picked. It's medium size, not too small and not too big and overpowering. This was really hard to choose, but I figure I can always upgrade later.

Below is the light I have chosen to go above my dinning room table. It was also really hard to make a decision. This was simple, contemporary, and inexpensive enough that I can upgrade later.
Now I have have to choose a wall sconce to go in the same room. There was nothing that matched exactly, but the two below could work. What does everyone think? Which one should I choose?

Sconce 1
Sconce 2

Sconce 3 (Parents suggested this one, looks pretty good)

Vanity lights. I purchased something different, but I think I will be going with this. It's the brushed nickel 3-light fixture with a frost bell bulb cover.

What's to come:

Sorry that I haven't posted in a while, but the progress on the house is slow going at the moment. There is lots of work on the sheet rock, mudding, priming and painting the ceiling. Not much new to show. Instead, I'll give you a little hint of what's to come.

Shipping out on Thursday will my kitchen cabinets. Below is a sample from the American Woodmark website. The cabinets that I ordered are the same color and style shown below. I love the color and style. I have a computer generated image of the exact design that I will install. Maybe I will upload the image later to show you, or wait until I can take a picture of the real thing.

When I ordered my cabinets, I selected my countertop too. Quick elimination process. I laid out all the sample tiles that were remotely nice and very quickly, in a matter of minutes, I found the one that I liked. What can I say, I know what I want. And great minds must think alike, for later that night I discovered that my parents chose the very same formica laminate top for their newly remodeled kitchen in Florida. What are the odds? And even though our countertops are the same, we will have very different looks, as they have white cabinets.

Looking for kitchen appliances has been pretty difficult. I know I want black, but other then that, I am not set on anything else. After much thinking, I am leaning toward a gas range stove. I think I will use the stove top more, and I was told that gas makes the best stove top. I mean, when I want hot water for tea, I want it quick. I initially wanted a smooth top electric stove, as it would be much easier to clean. I am not a fan of cleaning uneven stove tops. I really like the Whirlpool Stove below. It's gas, yet the grate is even, easier to transfer pots and pans, and its only two pieces that can be easily removed and put in the dishwasher.

As for the other appliances, no decisions have been made yet. I am sure a decision will be made the day I need to order them. My next big choice is lighting. I need to buy two vanity lights, a wall sconce and one hanging light over my dining area. There are lots of crappy lights out there, so I have a some searching to do. Vanities are also on my shopping list. Decisions, decisions...

More Pictures

I had a request for more photos, so here are a few.

My Dad wanted to catch a shot of the smoke coming out of the heater the first night it was turned on. So excited to have warm floors!

The heating systems is such a great one. So small and quiet. You have to be right next to the machine and have no other noise to hear it doing its stuff.

Then he took a couple shots of the house in the dark.
